This website contains reports on our experience on making devices in resource-limited environments when commercial devices are either not available or too costly to buy and/or maintain. Our experience has been that simple, repairable, locally made devices are often safer than the alternatives of either no device or a donated commercial device that you are unfamiliar with or cannot keep in good repair.
The creators of this website waive any and all liability for the building, manufacture of, or use of these or similar devices. If you choose to construct a similar device you accept all liability for the construction, maintenance, and operation as well obtaining any needed regulatory clearance for the building, manufacture of, or use of these devices. The information contained in this report is for general educational purposes only and the authors do not warrant or guarantee the efficacy, safety or reliability of any devices constructed using information from our materials.
The failure to construct and maintain medical equipment correctly and know how to use it properly may harm or kill a patient. If you attempt to construct any medical devices such as the ones depicted in our materials you understand and agree that such equipment by its nature is associated with a high level of risk and YOU EXPRESSLY AND VOLUNTARILY ASSUME THE RISK OF DEATH OR OTHER PERSONAL INJURY SUSTAINED WHILE USING YOUR DEVICES. Additionally, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold the authors harmless from any third party claims arising from such High Risk Uses, or any use or misuse of your devices.
For this website in general, while we have made every effort to provide helpful and accurate information, due to the constant changes inherit in medical practice or to human error, we cannot guarantee the information contained herein is in every respect accurate or complete. Furthermore, practices that may be appropriate in one setting or resource level or patient may not be appropriate for another.
